Grupology teaches writing using a process-based approach. From brainstorming to outlining, proofreading to revising, students will learn the steps and skills every strong writer needs. Using graphic organizers, writing exercises and personalized feedback, Grupology meets students where they are and nurtures their growth into confident writers.

Class Descriptions:

Grupology writing classes are deliberately designed as a progression. We are thoughtful about building the skills and strategies necessary to become a strong writer.

  • Let’s Get Writing

    4th–5th Grade

    This class offers dedicated time to build writing fluency. Students will practice composing complete and grammatically correct sentences through journaling, letter writing and crafting short stories.

  • Perfect Paragraphs

    4th–5th Grade

    Learn how to write a perfect paragraph. Students will practice the steps and skills to craft a topic sentence, supporting evidence and a concluding sentence.

  • Intro to Essays Part 1

    4th–6th Grade

    Take your strong sentences and perfect paragraphs and turn them into a whole essay! From brainstorming and outlining to revisions and edits, students will become comfortable with the essay writing process.

  • Intro to Essays Part 2

    5th–7th Grade

    Students will continue to build confidence and fluency in the essay writing process at a more advanced pace. Refine your ability to outline, write, revise and edit essays.

  • Academic Essays Part 1

    6th–7th Grade

    In Academic Essays, students begin writing literary analysis in five-paragraph essay form. At this level, plot points are used to craft informative and persuasive essays.

  • Academic Essays Part 2

    6th–8th Grade

    In Part 2 of Academic Essays, literary analysis becomes more sophisticated. Students begin to use quotes and citations to support their thesis statements.

FAQ:

  • Grupology will provide your child with a brief writing prompt to assess the correct class placement. Students are placed in the class best suited to develop their writing skills. Final placement decisions are at the discretion of Grupology.

  • Total tuition of $1,440 for the Spring semester is paid on 1/2/25.

    • A non-refundable $100 deposit will be applied toward your tuition to secure your enrollment.

    • For students who join after the first class has started, tuition is prorated based on the number of classes remaining in the semester.

    • If you cancel before the semester starts, we will issue a full refund less the non-refundable deposit.

    • If you cancel within the first three classes of the semester, you will be refunded the prorated tuition for the remaining classes.

    • If you cancel after the third class of the semester, you will be refunded 50% of the prorated tuition for the remaining classes.

  • The academic calendar consists of 16 weekly classes for the Fall semester and 18 classes for the Spring semester. Each class is 60 minutes long.

    We do not provide make-up classes. Should students miss a class, class outlines and homework assignments are available.

  • Each lesson is reinforced with weekly homework. Homework consists of revising, editing, and completion of classwork. For specific writing questions, students are encouraged to email info@grupology.com.

    Students who want additional writing instruction and support may also explore our tutoring offerings.

  • Our educators will provide a progress update. Parents may contact the educator for feedback or discussion. Real-time feedback can be found by reviewing your child’s working document.

  • Please partner with Grupology to ensure your child is ready to learn. Students should respectfully engage with their peers, be attentive during instruction, complete their work on time, keep materials organized and communicate with our educators.

  • We are called “Grupology” because we believe in the power of learning in a group.

    All individuals, students and staff are expected to treat everyone with respect.

    Verbal harassment, violent language or intimidating behavior will not be tolerated.

    Should a student be dismissed for disciplinary reasons, refunds will be provided according to the cancellation policy. Grupology retains the right to dismiss students at our discretion.
