Let’s Do the Math: Setting Students Up for Success

It’s no secret that math is an integral component to the industries and areas of study shaping our world today, from emerging fields like data science to traditional disciplines across engineering, science and technology.  With this in mind, we are launching Mathletes in Training, a new academic year-long program for students ages 7-13 (1st-8th grade) designed to give them mastery over the fundamentals of math.

Just as athletes must train to be at their fittest, stretching and flexing our students’ math muscles is key to helping them gain fluency and understanding. Through “Mathletes-in-Training”, Grupology aims to provide complementary and supplemental educational opportunities to what students learn in school.

Meeting once a week online throughout the school year (August through May), “Mathletes-in-Training” will use the engaging curriculum by AoPS Beast Academy, which goes deeper to teach kids to think critically and understand the concepts behind the math calculations they’re performing. This highly creative format combines fun and rigor, instilling foundational mastery while challenging students to stretch their skills in problems, puzzles and games that reinforce the learning and build confidence.

By approaching math as a skill that requires practice and dedication, we know our students will emerge with a preparedness for complex and interdisciplinary 21st century subjects, equipping them to be the makers, thinkers and doers of tomorrow.
